Wayne studies the score Wayne L Killian, Topsfield Director: 2001
Wayne plays trombone. He has had a lifetime of band music. From his high school days in New Holland, PA through service in the Rear Admiral's Band, Atlantic Fleet, US Navy, university degrees in music education and school administration to more than 30 years public school instrumental teaching and administration. He's known and loved by hundreds of northshore band students who learned their musicianship from him at Masconomet Regional High School.

Bob also plays trombone. He learned his musicianship out in Ohio and in the same Navy band that Wayne played in. He is a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and has played in the Cincinnati Symphony. He also played on tour in the backup band for Myron Florin of Lawrence Welk fame. Here in the east he has played many seasons with the North Shore Music Theater pit orchstra, the North Shore Philharmonic and the Salem Philharmonic. For 30 years he was Band Director at Swampscott High School and is currently Bandmaster of the Aleppo Shriners Band.



John gives the downbeat John Averell, Arlington
Director: 2004

John plays Alto Horn in our band and has done duty as co-conductor since 2004. He earned a PhD in physics from Harvard and worked in optics and software until retirement in 2001. He balanced work with music played in various community bands and orchestras in both Illiniois and New England. Most recently he has been in the Melrose Symphony and the Polymnia Choral Society. In addition to these musical interests he is an active participant in a senior internet journal published by the Melrose Mirror.
